The International Society of Black Project Managers (ISBPM) is a community of black project managers helping other project managers to excel in their careers.
Our vision is a world in which black professionals pursue, participate, and advance in the field of project management unencumbered by societal inequalities.
We advocate for the decrease in income and opportunity disparities that exist for black professionals in project management.

*. Black people are 13% of the US population, yet only make up 10% of college graduates, 8% of professional roles, 3.2% of executive or senior leadership roles and less than 1% of Fortune 500 CEOs. <source: Center for Talent Innovation>
*. On average black men earn 13% less than their white male counterparts, black women earn 38% less than white men and 21% less than white women. <source: Institute for Women's Policy Research>
*. Black professionals are not viewed as high potential for leadership positions and don't see a clear path to advancement within their organizations.
*. Only 3% of black women earn more than $100,000 annually. <source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics>
*. Unconscious bias creeps into every workplace decision related to interviewing, hiring, retaining, rewarding and promoting talent.
*. Black professionals are more likely to encounter racial prejudice and microaggressions than any other racial or ethnic group. Microaggressions include having a colleague touch their hair without permission, being mischaracterized as "angry," and being excluded from growth opportunities or one-on-one meetings with leadership.
If you are interested in removing these barriers to progress, join us in our endeavor to end racial inequalities in project management.
