Hawai'i Land Trust (HILT) is Hawaiʻi’s islands-wide land trust that is both a Hawaiʻi 501(c)3 nonprofit, and a nationally accredited land trust. HILT formed in 2011 from a merger of four island land trusts on Maui, Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi Island, and Kauaʻi. A dedicated Board of Directors representing all major islands guides HILT, supported by a lean and hard working staff. HILT has protected over 21,500 acres across Hawaiʻi, through 7 public preserves owned and stewarded by HILT, 44 conservation easements protecting agricultural, ecological, and cultural resources on private lands, and 5 facilitated conservation transactions. We protect lands that are integral to Hawaiʻi’s well-being and character, upholding our kuleana to these lands, and the communities they are in, through thoughtful stewardship that deepens community connection to, and builds reciprocal relationships with, ʻāina.
