Urbanspace curates immersive public markets where creativity, entrepreneurship and community flourish. We imagine a network of marketplaces where communities can gather and share in local culture and cuisine; a platform for entrepreneurial growth; a place where adventurous consumers can play an active role in creating their local retail landscape. Urbanspace began in London in 1972 as Urban Space Management, the brainchild of developer Eric Reynolds. During its decades of existence, the company has revamped derelict city spaces, conserved heritage buildings, and created vibrant new places for community and commercial gathering. Its formula: imaginative promotion, close involvement with the arts and, above all, nurturing of small business. In 1993, Eldon Scott decamped from the London team and arrived in New York, establishing our US operations with the founding of then novel outdoor markets at Union Square, Central Park and Bryant Park, amongst others. These markets quickly built brand and traffic. Bryant Park Holiday Market is the largest event in North America with over 4MM visitors in just over two months. As elevated street food and food trucks gained cult status, Scott moved to indoor markets and food halls based on Camden and Spitalfields. Today, Urbanspace continues to connect creative entrepreneurs and chefs with curious, creativity-seeking customers by reaching out to them in new communities across the country. With markets currently in New York City, Washington DC Metro, and Chicago, Urbanspace will soon see expansion to Philly, Boston, and Los Angeles.
