PUD No.1 Of Kittitas County

The District is located in Kittitas County, in the geographic center of the state, about an hour and a half (100 miles) east of Seattle, 45 minutes (40 miles) northwest of Yakima, and 3 hours (175 miles) west of Spokane. The topography of the area includes snow-capped mountains, irrigated valley land, desert terrain, and 2 major rivers, the Yakima and the Columbia. The County encompasses the City of Ellensburg (the Kittitas County Seat), the City of Kittitas, the City of Cle Elum, the City of Roslyn, the Town of South Cle Elum, and unincorporated areas of the county. The district primarily serves the unincorporated portions of the county. The District is a municipal corporation of the State of Washington established in 1936 to function as a public utility for the purpose of engaging in the generation, transmission, distribution and sale of electric energy. The District serves approximately 4,500 residents and businesses, with 735 miles of line. The District's administrative office is located in the City of Ellensburg. The District is governed by an elected three-member Board of Commissioners, which is responsible for the legislative and fiscal control of the District. the Commissioners' responsibilities are to appoint the General Manager; approve the District's budgets; adopt regulations; and set policies and guiding financial and operating principles. The District normally conducts open public meetings on the last Tuesday of the month.
