British Homes And Schools For Ukrainians (BHSU)

BHSU is a non-profit that is helping Ukrainians who are arriving in the UK under the Government ‘Homes for Ukraine’ scheme. Who is BHSU for? Ukrainians seeking refuge from war, looking to temporarily relocate to the UK. British hosts, looking to host Ukrainians. Purpose and Social impact One in four Ukrainians has now fled their home. BHSU provides infrastructure and services to help connect hosts and Ukrainians and support both sides. Our purpose is to help Ukrainians relocate and establish a dignified temporary independent livelihood in the UK. What do we do? Our intention is to build a sustainable network of services that will bridge the needs of Ukrainians arriving in the UK with the help of sponsors, schools and volunteers and refugee agencies in response to the devastating war and invasion of Ukraine. Homes - BHSU connects vetted host sponsors in the UK with Ukrainians in need of a safe place to stay under the UK Government ‘Homes for Ukraine’ scheme. Schools - we advise on school places and application procedures to state and private schools. English - We prepare children and young people to study in an English-speaking environment with online and face-to-face tuition in English and academic subjects. We offer English classes for adults to integrate into local communities. Support - We offer a community support hub based in Bristol for Ukrainian refugees connecting offers of help from volunteers with those who need it (As BHSU grows, new City-hubs in future). We are two teams working together: LLE Team (UK) - based in Bristol. Business Link (Ukraine)’s team - Ukrainian and Russian speakers from Ukraine, currently operating from the UK, Ukraine and Germany.
