Jose E. Alvarez, M.D.

Dr. Jose Alvarez knew as a young man that he was in touch with people, that he would be a physician. Born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, Dr. Alvarez came to the United States and studied biological science at Long Island University. During his residency at U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Alvarez found his passion for helping others in drug and alcohol rehabilitation. After his residency, he moved to Tampa, Florida and opened the first Alcohol and Drug Recovery Center at Town and Country Hospital, and served as the medical director there for nine years. He moved on to become the Medical Director of the Drug Abuse Comprehensive Coordinating Office (DACCO) for the next sixteen years. Dr. Alvarez has since founded his own practice, and offers services in primary care and minor skin blemish surgeries, as well as in drug and alcohol detox and rehab.
