The Birmingham Organising Committee for the 2022 Commonwealth Games Ltd was established in 2018. The OC will organise the 22nd edition of the Games, the largest multi-sport event to be held in England in 10 years and the biggest sporting and cultural event ever to be held in Birmingham and the West Midlands region. Approximately 6,500 athletes and team officials from 71 nations and territories across the Commonwealth will come together in an 11-day celebration of sport and culture. Events will take place across Birmingham and the West Midlands from 28 July until 8 August , entertaining more than one million ticketed spectators and reaching a global broadcast audience of more than one billion. Birmingham 2022 will jointly plan and deliver the Games with our key partners; the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), the UK Government, Birmingham City Council, the West Midlands Combined Authority and Commonwealth Games England. Over the next four years we will recruit over 1,000 people and we have already started to build the team that will support and deliver this key moment in history for Birmingham and the West Midlands. We will also need more than 10,000 volunteers, from all walks of life, to help deliver the Games. Our volunteer programme will open closer to the Games and, when the time comes, we’ll advertise this widely via our website and social media.
