The OZ Museum opened in 2003. It was built with a major grant from the State of Kansas and the generosity of the people of this small community, who also provided thousands of hours of volunteer time. The Museum encompasses and celebrates all things Oz. Visitors can find artifacts from L. Frank Baum’s life, items from the early Wizard of Oz silent films, merchandise, collectibles and artifacts from subsequent Oz movies and television shows. The OZ Museum brings in over 30,000 visitors a year to this small community and has an annual OZtoberFest every fall. The gift shop exists to support the OZ Museum’s conservation, preservation, and education programs while adding to the quality experience for the guests.
The Columbian Theatre, Museum & Art Center is a local venue for theatrical productions. It is also a community landmark and showcase for local artists. The theatre, built by J.C. Rodger in 1893, captures both the heart and soul of 1890s Kansas pioneer optimism as well as 21st-century rural community renewal and development. It is a historical structure of inestimable value and venue for the exhibition of rare paintings from the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. Step inside and discover how visionary J.C. Rogers left an unforgettable jewel on the Kansas prairie.
