Initiating Mutual Understanding Through Student Exchange (IMUSE) is a
501(c)3 non-profit founded in 2007 by students at Harvard, Tsinghua, and
Peking Universities. The IMUSE Conference is the largest North America-China
conference event organized through Harvard as well as the only exchange
program established through a collaboration between students at these leading
Chinese and American universities. We aim to foster mutual curiosity, respect,
and understanding between China and North America by providing opportunities
for social interaction and reflection about current issues relevant to both regions.
Through our activities, we aim to achieve the following three goals:
Socially intimate and intellectually meaningful face-to-face interactions among a small group of promising North American and Chinese college and university students to increase mutual curiosity, trust, and understanding among them;
Development and maintenance of an alumni network to effect high-impact and positive social change;
Maintenance of a strong partnership among our satellites at Harvard, Tsinghua, and Peking Universities to maximize fruitful international exchange within our staff.
