At Columbia University, Yibo Zhu earned a Master of Science degree in Computer Science in 2012 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 2008. Prior to Columbia University, Yibo Zhu earned her undergraduate degree in Computer Science from University of Toronto in 2008.While at Columbia University, Zhu was a Research Associate in the Computer Science Research Group and a Teaching Assistant in the Computer Science Department. My experience withstated “ software engineering has always been an attractive field to me because it is constantly pushing boundaries and developing new ways to do things. I always dream of working on a project that is so innovative that people will be trying to copy it and improve on it. I love the challenge of working with complex systems and seeing how they can be made easier and more fluid. I also enjoy working on teams and learning from other engineers.”Apart from her career goals of working in a “breakthrough product” or working on high-quality code, Zhu has alsodone her schooling at Columbia University.where she studied Computer Networks and Network Security. After completing her undergraduate studies, Zhu started her career in 2011 as a software engineer at Bloomberg LP. There, she worked on the app "iGift" which sends and receives electronical gifts between users. Zhu modified and integrated Weibo interaction into the app. In her role at Bloomberg LP, she also worked as a Senior Software Engineer for the financial application. Other key accomplishments of her time at Bloomberg LP include Developing a financial messaging infrastructure team. At Bloomberg LP, Zhu was also a Key Member that Developed the API named SHARC which is a middleware that is based on file-backed shared memory to achieve extraordinarily high throughput and low latency message notification and an automatically built last value cache which all processes on the machine can share. This was also her first experience working with TCP sockets. The team's work on SHARC also involved developing a type system that is similar to Google FlatBuff but can generate new types at run time. Finally, Zhu completed her graduate studies at Columbia University and earned a Masters in Programming Language and Translator.Apart from her work experience, Zhu also has a degree in Computer Networks and Network Security from Columbia University. Zhu is interested in programming language and translator studies and is currently working on her masters in Computing from Columbia University.
