Information
The Polish Scouting Association (ZHP) was formed in Poland in 1910, after Andrzej Małkowski translated Sir Robert Baden-Powell’s "Scouting for Boys" (1908). During and after the Second World War many Poles emigrated from Poland, among them there were scoutmasters from the Polish Scouting Association and wanted to continue it in the countries they lived. The Polish Scouting Association (ZHP) is a thriving international organisation, with a presence in Australia, Argentina, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden, the UK and the USA. Globally we have over 7000 scouts and members. Our aims are to develop in the youth of Polish descent the following: - Physical, intellectual, and moral strength. - Values embodying good citizenship. - Love of the natural environment. - Initiative, self-reliance and organisational skills. - Knowledge of Polish culture, history and language. - Our aims are achieved using the principles of the Scouting movement via camping and hiking.
