What is the YSU IT Workforce Accelerator?• Youngstown State University, in partnership with IBM, is excited to announce the launch of the region’s first IT Workforce Accelerator to help better align the local workforce with market in-demand industry 4.0 IT skills and jobs leveraging apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs.• These training and hiring programs will be offered to individuals in degreed and non-degreed pathways. Enrollment at YSU is not required for participation or entry into these programs.• YSU will serve as a registered apprenticeship program sponsor to help local companies develop and hire a skilled workforce with speed at scale, and with minimal barriers to entry. YSU will also provide administrative program support to employers looking to hire apprentices.• IBM will provide advocacy, education and enablement to member companies by sharing apprenticeship playbooks, toolkits and best practices. IBM will also offer subject matter expert support to the members of the IT Workforce Accelerator electing to register their apprenticeship programs independently.• Additionally, IBM is providing YSU access to its pre-apprenticeship training program for Software Developer, Cybersecurity, z/OS, IT Support Specialist, and Data Science to those companies willing to hire apprentices who may not have a relevant advanced degree.
