The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler (UTHSCT), an academic health institution, is a member of The University of Texas System. Created in 1977 by the UT System Board of Regents, UTHSCT was formerly part of Camp Fannin, known as a lung hospital. UTHSCT includes the School of Community & Rural Health, the School of Medical Biological Sciences and offers Graduate Medical Education programs. UTHSCT is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award graduate level degrees. Faculty physicians throughout our clinical affiliate, UT Health East Texas, treat patients at our main university medical center campus and across East Texas in community clinics and hospitals.
