The International Civil Aviation Organization

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) facilitates the development of the standards and regulations that underpin the global air transport system’s crucial role as a driver of global socio-economic development. Acting as a focal point for the entire global aviation community, ICAO is a specialized agency of the United Nations that serves the 191 States adhering to the 1944 Convention on International Civil Aviation.ICAO works with its Members States, industry stakeholders and non-government organizations to foster the growth of a safe, efficient, secure, economically sustainable and environmentally responsible international civil aviation sector. Our efforts contribute to the safe and reliable operation of over 100,000 daily flights throughout the world and the achievement of the objectives of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
