About Straight Talking Peer Education

Straight Talking employs and trains teenage parents as peer educators to run courses in secondary schools about the realities of teenage parenthood.

Often young people know how not to get pregnant, the Straight Talking course addresses why they would not want to in the first place, by delving into the emotional, social and practical implications of early parenthood.

Peer Education is powerful approach, young people relate to ‘someone like me’. Straight Talking harnesses this power, places it in a controlled environment and uses it effectively to make a real difference.

Straight Talking Aims to:

- reduce the high rates of teenage pregnancy in the UK
- get teenage parents back into education, employment and training
- enable young families to achieve economic independence and quality of life
