About Slovenian Student Association of Defense Studies

Slovenian student association of defense studies became active in spring 2006 when few enthusiasts wanted to connect students of defense studies. Membership is based on wide spectrum of intellectuals of defense studies as well as other sciences. We also opened membership to all that are interested in defense studies and are willing to contribute to the progress and development of studies in association and in everyday life. Members enjoy different benefits in practical and theoretical fields of defense studies. They are also welcome to contribute ideas and suggestions that could improve activities of association. Every suggestion and critic will be noticed, because this is the only way that we can become stronger and prouder. Defense Studies was founded in 1975 as a study course focused in the field of General National Defense and Social Self-Defense at the then Faculty of Sociology, Politics and Journalism (FSPN). The introduction of Defense Studies was strongly connected to aspirations for national emancipation right from its beginnings. The main reason for its civilian orientation and the facilitation of international cooperation was the fact, that the impact of ideology and federal government influence in Slovenia was the weakest amongst all other Yugoslav federal republics. Defense Studies represent a combination of various fields of science: politics, technology, defense, war and peace studies, which open the doors of perspective for the cadre in the areas of administration, management, counseling and advisory in national and international security systems.
