ReMed, founded in 1984, is a leading provider of rehabilitation services for people with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). With approximately 3.4 million ABI cases reported per year, the industry lacks treatment options that allow for semi-independent and independent living.
ReMed addresses this significant barrier by offering short-term and longer-term residential services, combined with outpatient solutions for individuals with brain injury. This is accomplished via a continuum which includes over 30 residential sites and 4 outpatient centers in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Louisiana. ReMed's treatment team works closely with the individual, the family, the funder and other stakeholders as part of their overall treatment philosophy and focuses on the individual's history, current level of functioning, future goals and plans for discharge.
Prior to patient admission, ReMed conducts an extensive patient evaluation to best match services required by the individual with ReMed’s clinical capabilities. In the course of any day and depending upon diagnosis, an individual might see a physical therapist, speech therapist, occupational therapist, psychologist, recreational therapist, nurse, vocational specialist and/or behavioral specialist. A rehabilitation case manager coordinates treatment, while a brain injury specialist is responsible for the follow through of activities of daily living and community integration. All of these professionals are credentialed and licensed in their field of expertise and are ReMed employees. In 2017, ReMed received its 10th consecutive 3-year accreditation from the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). This accreditation requires a rigorous peer review process and demonstrates that ReMed has met the highest benchmarks for quality programming and is highly recognized as a provider who achieves outcome desired by individuals served, their families, funders and other stakeholders.
