About Johannesburg Water

The Company provides services to an area stretching from Orange Farm in the south to Midrand in the north, Roodepoort in the west and Alexandra in the east,

It supplies 1.6 billion litres of potable water per day, procured from Rand Water through :
- 12 369 km water distribution network
- 128 reservoirs and water towers
- 37 water pump stations

Wastewater is then collected and reticulated via :
- 11 820 km of wastewater distribution network
- 38 sewer pump stations

964 Ml of sewage per day is treated at its six wastewater treatment works (WWTW), which includes one pilot biogas-to-energyplant at Northern WWTW where methane gas is converted to energy.

It employs a total of 2 786 employees (as of December 2021). In addition, the Company employs 78 cleaners and 308 security guards whose salaries are administered by the CoJ and are appointed on the CoJ’s conditions of service.
