According to projections in the World Economic Forum 2016 Gender Gap report, the Middle East remains the least gender-equal region in the world, with an estimated 365 years before the balance is righted at the current pace of change. If we zoom into the Science and Technology based careers that will drive the industries of today and shape the future, women are also under-represented.
In order to drive change and make a big impact in the region, CWIT was founded by Facebook, LinkedIn and Ericsson in 2015 to bring together technology companies with the vision of breaking through the glass ceiling and supporting the development of women in the technology industry. Since then, CWIT has grown to 10 member companies, including Google, EY, IBM, Amazon, Twitter, GE and Cisco.
CWIT Objective is to Attract, Retain, Inspire and Empower women in the Technology Industry.
Representatives from member companies collaborate on a voluntary basis to create and deliver high-impact programs to make a difference in today's world.
