About Federal Telecomunications Commission

The Federal Telecommunications Commission (COFETEL) is the independent agency of the Ministry of Communications and Transport responsible for regulation, promotion and monitoring of efficient development and vast social diffusion of telecommunications and broadcasting services in Mexico. COFETEL acts in accordance with the Federal Telecommunications Law published in the Official Journal of the Federation on June 7, 1995.

MISSION

To ensure that all Mexicans have access to telecommunication services provided in environment of healthy competition where necessary conditions for the development of major infrastructure, the efficient delivery of services and the introduction of new technologies prevail.


VISION

Mexico is at the forefront of telecommunications and information technology, and that there are access, diversity, quality, better prices and coverage of all services that exist in a competitive and convergent environment that fully guarantees the social benefit.
