With Caravan Health, Now the Numbers Work.It all started in 2010, when Caravan’s founder Lynn Barr was working as the CIO of a rural hospital. The Affordable Care Act had introduced ACOs in the U.S. health care system and Barr thought, “How hard can this be?” But when she formed her first collaborative ACO, she realized the numbers just didn’t work. This was going to require a different workforce. She empowered nurses to provide wellness care, introduced new initiatives, and adjusted budgets. And it worked. Soon people were turning to Lynn to find out how they could have the same success. In 2013, Lynn orchestrated the creation of Caravan Health and she hasn’t looked back.Today, Caravan manages value-based payment programs and ACOs across the country, including the nation’s largest and we are recognized as the nation’s leader in accountable care. The vision Lynn had many years ago has become a reality for thousands of providers.
