America’s Grow-a-Row is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that grows, gleans, and gives nutritious fresh fruits and vegetables to people struggling with food insecurity. We believe that everyone deserves fresh food for healthy living.
Individuals facing food insecurity experience higher rates of diet-related diseases like diabetes, obesity, and heart disease, with disproportionate impact on people of color and low-income people in both urban and rural areas. Fresh fruits and vegetables are rich in important nutrients that help people thrive.
America’s Grow-a-Row owns four farms in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, where volunteers help harvest crops. Fresh produce is distributed to hunger relief agencies across the Garden State, greater Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region, and beyond and at Free Farm Markets in low food access communities. We also offer education programs for clients and volunteers with a focus on healthy eating and cooking, farming, and hunger awareness.
America’s Grow-a-Row donates 2.5 million pounds – 10 million servings – of nutritious fruits and vegetables each year. Since our beginning in 2002, we have donated over 17 million pounds – 68 million servings – of fresh produce.
