Overview:Our company was founded on the belief that less is more when it comes to modeling mortgage behavior. Investors in residential-mortgage-backed-securties require the ability to accurately forecast prepayments, defaults, and ultimately, bond payments for a wide variety of future economic conditions. While data-driven industry participants have been calibrating mortgage models to history for a long time, they have always had trouble adapting to new conditions. The basic problem - in spite of millions of loans and decades of history, only a small fraction of economic environments have been observed. At Zero Degrees, we build fundamental models using the drivers that affect borrowers in the real world and parameters that make intuitive sense. We don't fit them to history, we expect history to follow.
