Overview:Colin Kyle, a member of the Institute Of Export (MIEx), and a Certified International Trade Advisor (CITA) established Rotag Export Services Ltd to offer assistance to SME's with their export control and compliance requirements. Many companies are involved in export activities without realising that the goods that they are exporting may require an export licence. Ignorance of the law is no excuse, and businesses that unwittingly export goods without the proper licences are not immune to prosecution. The penalties can be harsh. Violations of national or European export controls can result in hefty fines and even imprisonment. Export authorisations and special privileges already granted will be revoked, and it will be difficult to obtain further export authorisations in the future
Violations of U.S. export controls carry even more severe consequences, from significant fines ($1 million+) and the loss of export privileges, to the risk of violators being added to a sanctions list.
