The National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) is the organization for all African-American owned newspapers in the United States. The organization, also known as "The Black Press of America," was founded in 1940 by a coalition of 20 Black newspapers and their publishers.
The organization now comprised of over 180 newspapers and a collective readership of over 19 million people. We currently run NNPA.org, our organization's website, and BlackPressUSA.com, our website that covers African-American news and showcases the work of our individual member papers.
The NNPA Foundation is a 501c(3) non-profit that coincides with the work of the NNPA. The foundation is also a member of Act Against AIDS Leadership Initiative (AAALI), a grant with the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that encompasses 19 minority organizations to further the work of HIV/AIDS prevention and education in the African-American, Latino and same-sex communities.
