Overview:This congregation of friends of Jesus first began meeting in the Edith Avenue area about 100 years ago because some individuals believed the “Good News” about Jesus Christ, needed to be shared with people living in this area of the city of Saint John.
Edith Avenue has changed over the years and that is a good thing, because life brings changes. And is not this a good thing; because is not life in the Kingdom of God about growing and changing as we await for the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ?
That last part of the above sentence is from Paul’s letter to Titus 2:11-13. That section serves as a great summary of what this group of believers seeks to be all about.
11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people. 12 It trains us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, as we wait for the happy fulfillment of our hope in the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
That grace of God, the coming into this world of our Saviour Jesus Christ, to live and die as the remedy for our sins, to restore as to a relationship of hope and life with our God is what the folks at Edith Avenue seek to live and proclaim to the world.
Edith Avenue is a member of the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches (CABC).
