Real lives, real impact Founded as a social enterprise in 2011, Bettr Barista Coffee Academy is a leading provider of specialty coffee education. At the core of our business is a vocational programme with the social aim of arming marginalised women and at-risk youth with professional expertise and life skills that can secure them employment in the growing specialty coffee industry -- both locally and further afield. Our Academy achieves this via a whole-person approach that focuses on world-class professional barista training, emotional development and physical skills training. World-class barista training and certification Bettr Barista is Singapore's only licensed International Education Partner with the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) and conducts multi-level barista training for coffee enthusiasts and professionals. The Academy is also an Authorised Trainer with the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE), and an Approved Training Organisation with the Singapore Workforce Development Agency offering government-funded F&B education. In addition to professional coffee training, the Academy also regularly conducts coffee appreciation classes for the public, runs customised team-building programmes for corporates and deploys pop-up mobile brew bars at events. Bettr Barista also retails coffee machines, accessories and wholesales freshly roasted coffee beans from its dedicated roasting facility, sourced from community-focused, sustainable coffee farms around the world. Business with a social heart Bettr Barista recently the 2013 President's Challenege Award for Social Enterprise Startup of the Year, and was also Singapore's first recipient of the Arthur Guinness Fund in 2012, which targets businesses with a social heart, who are committed to finding innovative solutions to real world social problems.
