About Berks Encore

Berks Encore engages the community to enable older adults to achieve a better quality of life by providing a comprehensive program of services, referrals, education and advocacy. We are a resource for any issue that affects older adults. We believe that while aging is difficult, getting aging services should be easy.

Founded in 1965, Berks Encore dedicates itself to serving older adults and their families. Whether delivering services directly, collaborating with other organizations or referring seniors to outside programs, we focus community resources to meet the needs of seniors by providing easy access to information and programs. Our services include Meals On Wheels, exercise programs, income tax preparation, Medicare & insurance counseling, and tax rebate assistance. Berks Encore operates six centers where older adults come to learn, create, socialize and remain engaged.

Last year, 1,569 volunteers donated 60,652 hours of service. Our volunteers delivered and served 214,825 meals to homebound adults and seniors, prepared 3,794 income tax returns, and helped seniors save more than $155,000 during Medicare Open Enrollment. Berks Encore also took 316 appointments for Health Insurance Marketplace counseling and enrollment.

Today, older adults prefer to age in place and remain independent. Berks Encore knows that with independence comes dependence. Our staff and volunteers are available to assist Berks County’s aging population and their families.
