Mission: A Global Voice for Autism equips conflict-affected communities with the skills to support their children with autism and trauma-related behavioral challenges in classrooms, homes and communities.
A Global Voice for Autism's unique approach to autism support is community responsive and person-centered. We offer both intellectual and emotional capacity-building support to the communities we serve to ensure that caregivers have both the knowledge and psychological capacities to support children in their communities.
In order to achieve this, we offer:
1) Interactive parent and teacher training in evidence-based practices for classroom based and 1:1 inclusive education and autism support.
2) Peer Support and Self Development groups for parents, siblings and teachers that teach self-care skills, cultivate safe spaces for discussion and experience sharing and develop confidence and resilience.
3) Community education initiatives to address autism stigma and improve community awareness.
4) Coached community outings for families to teach skills for community-based behavior management.
5) Virtual consulting support for past training participants and for families in hard-to-reach high-conflict communities.
Our programs have been implemented in the following communities:

-Mersin, Turkey (Syrian and Iraqi refugees)
-Silwad, Palestine
-Minneapolis, Minnesota (Somali refugees)
