From January 2015 to Present (1 year) Software Development Engineer II - Fire Phone @ - Architected and delivered a fully dynamic shadow system for 3D objects within the UI; the heavily optimized system renders blurred 3D silhouettes into an atlased texture. It relies on the scene graph for invalidation queues. - Spearheaded optimization efforts across all of Dynamic Perspective UI. - Heavily optimized 3D engine scene graph traversal and rendering to meet performance requirements. - Independently prototyped and shipped advanced lighting rig for for all 3D content across the phone. - Co-authored next-generation rendering architecture; focus on performance, cross platform and fast iteration times. - Implemented scene graph and skeletal animation system; hardened Collada importer to support complex scenes. - Independently designed and built node-based shader system and editor. - Prototyped physically based lighting model using ambient specular cubemaps and spherical harmonics. From June 2013 to January 2015 (1 year 8 months) Assistant Computer Resource Manager @ I actively administered 160 Windows/Mac OS X/Linux lab machines, as well as an ESXi cluster of Windows/Linux servers hosting services like email, user disk space with Samba and LDAP for user logins, and multiple databases and web servers. Recently, I am spearheading R&D towards migrating to Samba 4.0 as an operating system agnostic solution to centralized user profiles and data. From July 2010 to May 2013 (2 years 11 months) Software Engineering Intern @ I brainstormed with my team to design and implement a multithreaded scheduling system for managing build jobs. Furthermore, I contributed features to an automated asset compilation system designed to run on the render farm. I also Implemented and debugged various automated tests for Presto, Pixar's in-house animation system. Finally, I coordinated with developers to pinpoint and fix bugs within Presto. From June 2012 to August 2012 (3 months) QE Developer Intern @ I designed and developed a flash panel tool for Photoshop CS5 using a mixture of ActionScript 3.0, the Flex 3 SDK, and Javascript; and collaborated heavily with a small development team locally and remotely to design features and finalize requirements for the tool. From May 2009 to August 2009 (4 months) Digital Imaging Intern @ I worked closely with manager developing a stand-alone application which demonstrated a proof-of-concept image selection feature written in ActionScript 3.0. Integrated the feature into Photoshop Express. Additionally, I fixed over a dozen issues in Photoshop Elements 7.
