- Kernel partitioning, scheduling, load balancing for multi-processor; typed system call via messaging.
- Efficient cross-address-space inter-process communication (IPC) design and implementation.
- Major improvement in interrupt and exception servicing, paging, system scheduling, reliable networking protocol, among many others.
- Complete Ethos’ Xen para-virtulized x86-64 port, greatly improved its performance (interrupt races fix-up, kernel FPU safeguard, Golang AMD64 run time, memory protection and etc.).
- Event library for both user and kernel (concurrency, co-operative threading, x86 ABI).
- Patched Xen’s mini-OS x86-64 kernel entry (assembly) to handle race due to nested interrupts. From June 2010 to Present (5 years 7 months) Software Engineering Intern, Search Infrastructure @ Single handedly built from ground up a best-effort logging and recovering to expedite the recovery process for update-latency-sensitive part of Google's next generation search infrastructure serving pipeline. From May 2014 to August 2014 (4 months) Software Engineering Intern, XFP @ Analyzed distribution of dimensions for a custom file format. Prototyped and benchmarked 5 competing systems, each required specialized knowledge and tuning; changed the technical direction of the team. From May 2013 to August 2013 (4 months)
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Computer Science @ University of Illinois at Chicago From 2009 to 2014 Bachelor, Software Engineering @ Wuhan University From 2005 to 2009
