Through bringing old and new together, I deliver significant improvement and change through people by effectively setting my teams up for success. My passion for people is my energy, it ensure that I take people along with hearts, minds and hands. Harvesting learning's from others keep me on a learning journey and keeps my efforts relevant and on the edge. I am firm and understand the key to living the values is living it without conditions. This keeps me on the moral high ground. Rational behaviour holds my integrity intact. My recipe is from learning and has been tested. I stand for a Brand that will make any company proud
Started my career in 1986 as a learner official with Rand Mines at Durban Roodepoort Deep Mines. I went through the ranks at Harmony, Blyvoor, and Durban Navigation Collieries. I became Technical Assistant on ERPM Far East decline project in 1996 and Underground Manager later on South East Vertical. I became Mine Manger and General Manager on Harmony 2 and3 # shaft in the Bernard Swanepoel era.
Joint Anglo American Platinum where I became General Manger of Union Mine where we broke the industry hard rock safety record. We won the Anglo American Chief Executive Award for Operational Excellence and in 2008 and the Anglo American Chief Executive Award for Excellence in Safety.
Join Anglo American Platinum as Executive Safety Advisor in 2010 when the company demonstrated the leading industry practice of bolting and nets in a narrow tabular environment. I moved to Consulting Mining Engineer in 2011 and to Chief Consulting Mining Engineer in 2012. I was moved to Tumela as part of a turnaround plan which was successfully concluded in 2015 . In June 2015 As Head of Operations or Senior General Manager the remaining conventional mines was consolidated to form the Amandelbult operations .
Senior General Manger / Head of Operations @ As part of Anglo American Platinum reshaping of the business the different mines and concentrators will be managed together to continue the current turnaround strategy . The new team’s objective is to make Amandelbult investable again. The Operation produces 7 Mt pa and has 14 700 employees
So far the Tumela team has done a great job in creating face and are back in the green. The team will be led by Benedict Ngezi. The Dishaba team under the leadership of Patrick Morutlwa has started their journey. Dishaba would expand production over the next 3 years to cater for production crews from Tumela Mine as the top infrastructure come to the end of their life.
Looking Forward to working with great team of people From August 2015 to Present (5 months) Board Member @ Anglo American Alcamey has a Development Trust with shares in Anglo American as a Board memeber our task is to establize the trust complete the BOT registration develop a strategic Plan with stakeholders by end of 2014 facilitate the election of community trustees and to develop and carry over skills for the future trustees. From December 2013 to Present (2 years 1 month) General Manager @ The analyst is of the view that Amandelbult operations, Tumela and Dishaba have suffered from geological surprises, poor or delayed investment decisions as well as other generic operational issues. However, management has renewed its commitment to turning the operations around, expediting investment in new infrastructure and turning productivity around.
However, Tumela has no time to lose if it is to avoid a slow death and it needs to build another large vertical shaft. The analyst argues that the key role this operation plays in Anglo American Platinum means that it requires a fairly rapid operational turn around and has now become an important marker whether Anglo American Platinum has a significant long-term future.
I will lead the mine on our recovery journey and lay the foundation for future capital investment in the Tumela Tier 1 asset.
