When Will Larson was hired as the Chief Technology Officer at Calm in January of 2020, he was excited to have the opportunity to work with the company’s engineering team. Larson had previous experience with engineering at Digg and SocialCode, where he helped grow their teams and provided support for their engineering team. He believes that working with a team of engineers is a great way to learn new technology and grow your skills.Larson started his engineering career at Digg in 2010 as a software engineer. He was responsible for developing the software used by Digg and working on a range of projects including implementing our sharded Redis cluster, public APIs, MyNews social news feature and overall caching strategy.In September of 2008, Larson was hired by Yahoo!, where he worked for 1 year 10 months as a technical Yahoo! engineer. While at Yahoo! he worked on a range of engineering projects, including forming the Erlang workflow manager and developing several PHP web servers to help with the UI/UX development. He also wrote and maintain the code for a few services within Yahoo! and was part of the team that wrote the technology strategy for the company.In December of 2009, Larson was hired by Monocle Studios LLC as a cofounder and assistant language teacher. He worked in teaching English as a foreign language at three public schools in rural Japan. Larson also worked on developing the software needed to teach English at these schools and he was responsible for helping to turn these schools into successful businesses.In June of 2016, Larson was hired as the Head of Foundation Engineering at Stripe. While at Stripe, he founded Stripe’s Foundation engineering organization to build the developer tools, data engineering, and infrastructure to support every developer integrating with Stripe, every engineer building Stripe itself, and ensured that Stripe is powerful, reliable, and performant infrastructure for the businesses who rely on us. Larson also worked on expanding their team from ~30 to ~250, helping the company grow from a small startup to a major tech company. SSL LabsSSL Labs is a company that Will Larson is currently a part of. SSL Labs is a company that specializes in nonsense SSL certificates. SSL Labs has developed a certificate issuance tool that is used to issue SSL certificates that are not secure. SSL Labs is also currently patenting a tool that they claim can be used to automatically rogue SSL certificates.Will Larson has worked on SSL Labs for over 2 years.
