graduating from Vanderbilt University in 1978 with a degree in graphic design, Wayne Powell worked at the buying department of Anheuser-Busch, where he gained experience in all phases of advertising. He then worked at McCann Erickson in New York City as a senior design man. After years of freelance design work, he founded Powell Creative in Nashville in February 1992, working as a President and Senior Creative Director until February 2003.Since leaving Powell Creative, Wayne Powell has focused on his vision for the company, working on a number of freelance projects, including an online graphic design course, an advertising campaign for the Nashville Fair, and a mixed media campaign for the ABC broadcaster WSMV.
