I am currently heading the Southern Division of Madura Fashion and Lifestyle (erstwhile Madura Garments) as Regional Director .The role encompasses all arms (Trade, Retail, Support viz HR , Commercial , Legal, Business Dev) of the MFL business in Southern India.
Prior to this I was working as General Manager Retail Operations for Planet Fashion the Multi Brand retail arm of Madura Fashion and Lifestyle. It offers the discerning consumer a complete brand experience of the best brands in the country, including Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, all under one roof. Currently present in 36 cities and has over 70 stores across the country & in the Middle East. Growing at 30% annually, In 2008 Planet Fashion will expand to 50 towns and open over 100 stores by end of this 2008.
Prior to my role as Retail Operations Head I had a stint of two years as Business Head - Branded Exports in the same organization. As Business Head managed all operational aspects of the business in the 13 countries we are currently present and spearheaded the strategic intiatives. Before my stint as Business Head -Branded Exports worked as Group Manager Customer Service (All India)
Before joining Madura Garments I worked as Senior Manager Marketing – Apollo Health Street Limited ( the technology initiative of Apollo Group of Hospitals) for 2 years. Preceding this I worked for almost 3 years as Manager Marketing for Tata Teleservices Ltd.
My first assignment was with Nutrasweet , a division of Monsanto in Chicago , USA for almost 2 years.
Regional Director @ The scope encompasses responsibility for the overall business in the Southern Region for Madura Fashion and Lifestyle.
The job responsibility covers :
1.Overall responsibility of achieving the Budgetted numbers of the Trade Channel
2.Topline and Bottomline responsbility of Planet Fashion (the Multibrand retail arm of Madura Fashion & Lifestyle)
3. Human Resources : Team Recruitment , Training , Communication etc
4. Commercial Control
5. Business Development : Trade business, Retail - Consignment and Buy and Sell, Value Channel
6. Spearhead Legal action in the region in conjuction with the Legal Team
7.To motivate & lead the entire Team - Trade, Retail , Commercial etc towards achieving deliverables.
8. Business Planning and Strategy
To sum up - to ensure synergy between all functions and arms of business to ensure operational efficiency and achievement of deliverables in the Southern Region. From February 2011 to Present (4 years 11 months) General Manager (Head Retail Operations, All India) @ The job responsibility covers :
1. To achieve Budget numbers Top-line & Profit from Operations : driving key paramenters such as average unit value, average transaction value, conversion etc
2. To manage and control all aspects of retail among our franchisees/ partners Nationwide
o Operations : responsible for topline as well as profitability, ensuring profitability for channel partners
o Channel activities : Consumer schemes/promotions, Incentivizing
o Human Resources : Recruitment and Training
o Primary interface with the Projects Team to ensure timely rollout
o Visual Merchandising
o Retail Planning : Space management , Inputs for retail buying
3. To motivate & lead the entire team of 360+ members (including front end sales) towards achieving deliverables. Direct reportees include regional managers and the visual merchandising team. From November 2007 to July 2011 (3 years 9 months) Business Head - Branded Exports @ In this role the prime responsibilities include:
1. To achieve Budget numbers for Branded Exports and CBA (contribution before advertising) for all the brands, namely Allen Solly, Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Peter England, Elements.
2. To manage and control all aspects of retail among our franchisees/ partners etc
3. To manage all operational aspects of the business in the 13 countries we are currently present.
4.To expand distribution in current markets. Additionally to identify new markets and develop and successfully execute the Country entry strategy.
5.To spearhead all marketing initiatives in the International markets. From December 2005 to November 2007 (2 years) Group Manager Customer Service (National) @ As the National Head Customer Service was the prime to spearhead the companies first National level Customer Service initiative.
