In her previous work experiences, Vanessa hasBA from Rutgers University in Journalism, and nearly five years of experience as a professional trader. Bismarck has over 6 years of experience as an owner and leading partner of a public relations and communications company. She worked on a freelance basis for several companies, including Chief, before starting her own company in 1997. From January 1997 to January 1999, she was the Trader at Man Sugar, a trading company which dealt in sugar. There, she worked with a team of traders to price, package and ship sugar to the worldwide market.

Before starting her career in PR and COMMUNICATIONS, Vanessa worked for several years as a Trader at Man Sugar, in their early days as a small business. While at Man Sugar, Vanessa also had the opportunity to participate in a number of marketing and public relations projects including working on the launch of a new soft drink, working on the development of a marketing campaign to succeed with the Oprah Winfrey Show's first season, and working on a program to drive incremental sales at a local IBM company. In all of these projects, Vanessa provided her knowledge, skills and experience as a Trader to help the team succeed. Vanessa also spent time as an owner & operator of her own business, Cultus Group, where she worked on a wide range of marketing and public relations projects, both locally and nationally. She has also been an active member of several boards and committees related to her profession, including the American Press Institute, the National Public Relations Association, and the American Bar Association. Vanessa also holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
