From August 2011 to March 2014 (2 years 8 months) Jamestown, New York AreaSenior Test Engineer @ Power Solutions International Itasca, ILTest Engineer @ Power Solutions International Responsibilities:- Create and coordinate the completion of validation test plans for engine sensors and components in the PSI product line.- Support full engine testing across entire PSI product line, including scheduling, resourcing various instrumentation, coordinating with outside facilities for testing outside PSI capabilities, and working with the development team to make sure the testing that is done is appropriate for answering the fundamental engineering questions being asked.Achievements:- Created standardized validation test plan for all PSI electronic components.- Expanded PSI testing capabilities to include in house stress/strain analysis and FEA validation using strain gages.- Using past experience, I've worked to improve PSI NVH testing methods (updating instrumentation, using adequate data acquisition settings, standardizing tests etc) and data analysis capabilities.- Applied Six Sigma knowledge to improve data quality of PSI testing. Whenever applicable, statistical methods are used to analyze test data.- Led the testing and implementation of new PSI misfire detection strategy and calibration.- Led effort to experimentally measure stress levels seen in PSI valve springs during operation using mounted strain gages and vehicle testing. From August 2015 to July 2018 (3 years) Itasca, ILSenior Applied Mechanics Engineer @ Cummins Inc. Responsibilities:- Analyze, test and measure strain, vibration, temperature, pressure, flow and part displacement for Heavy Duty (12-15L) Internal Combustion Engine components. - Manage up to 20 engineering test requests simultaneously, covering various types of measurements- Design tests that recreate the failure modes of engine components and allow new designs to be validated.- Generate reports and relay results of all testing to the requesting engineer(s) with recommendations.Achievements:- Over the course of my tenure at Cummins I led and completed over 100 cost of coverage (warranty) and new product implementation testing projects, including multi-million dollar initiatives.- Completed Six Sigma Green Belt training and project to improve the measurement capabilities and data quality of Cummins' valve train rocker pin torque/endurance rig ("Pin Rig")- Began second Six Sigma project to begin quantifying sound measurements in engine test cells- Managed logistics and construction of new Cummins rig for testing engine main bearings From March 2014 to August 2015 (1 year 6 months) Jamestown, New York AreaGraduate Research Assistant @ University of Louisville - Was chosen to support DoD (Department of Defense) university grant project meant to quantify forces associated with traumatic brain injury from combat (IED's specifically) in soldiers.- Designed and fabricated prototype passive accelerometers that would fit inside soldier's helmet using MEMS (Micro Electromechanical Systems) technology.- Performed structural analysis on design using Solidworks FEA software.- Designed experiments that could later be used to test functionality of sensors. From August 2010 to August 2011 (1 year 1 month) Louisville, KYCo-op Mechanical Engineer @ Rapid Prototyping Center (University of Louisville) Covers 3 semester long Co-ops at the facility. Responsibilities included:- Daily quoting of projects from various customers (Boeing, GE, Ganassi Racing as well as many others)- Operation of the SLS laser sintering machines to create 3D printed prototypes - Advising customers on scheduling and which prototyping materials to use to accommodate their needs.- Using CAD software (SolidEdge) to make computer models of prototype parts brought in from customer, allowing designs to be optimized quickly and rapid prototyped.- Conducting tensile testing on baseline and experimental materials used for prototyping in order to optimize machine settings (temperature, laser wattage etc)- Quality control of parts that are 3D printed. Checking that all printed features have been well formed and that there are no weak points in the parts.- Shipping of parts to customers in a timely manner. From December 2007 to August 2009 (1 year 9 months) Louisville, KYMaintenance @ Oakbrook Swim and Tennis Club Worked part time during summers from 2002 to 2007. Responsibilities included:-Clearing pool deck of debris and trash during operational hours.-Checking pH levels of pool water hourly-Operating pool vacuum before opening to clear pool floor. From May 2002 to August 2007 (5 years 4 months) Florence, KY
