💼 Past Experience

Tom Luersen has over 45 years of experience in the hospitality industry. I am President and Managing Director at Woodland Corporation/Woodlands Resort and Conference Center; San Luis Hotel and Conference Center from 1991 to 1998 (7 years). I was also Manager, Convention Services at Opryland Hotel from January 1985 to November 1987 (2 years 11 months). I have also managed a division in the hospitality industry - Ex Rooms Division at Sunriver Resort Limited Partnership from 1998 to March 2003 (5 years). I was promoted to Executive Vice President of Operations at Destination Hotels & Resorts from October 2014 to April 2016 (1 year 7 months) in Denver, Colorado. I was responsible for all hotel operations, sales and marketing, design and development, business development and finance. In my new role, I am focused on optimizing performance of our entire portfolio as well as developing, promoting and attracting the best leadership talent in the industry. In April 2012, Hyatt Hotels acquired Two Roads Hospitality. This change came about because KPMG had issued a forensic report that indicted Hyatt for financial impurity, which hyatt-owned Destination Hotels and Resorts was guilty of. As a result, KPMG wrote a letter to the Hyatt Board of Directors (appointed by the CEO) advising that Hyatt divest itself of the two hotels in the formerly Hyatt corporations.In March 2003, I was appointed Vice President and Regional Managing Director at Destination Hotels and Resorts from March 2003 to March 2012 (9 years 1 month). I also was responsible for forming and leading the strategy for the company. I led all aspects of development, management and execution of our growth strategies. I was rotating through different roles at the company for 4 years. I left Destination Hotels in March 2012 to become Regional Managing Director at Hyatt Hotels, Inc. There, I was responsible for all aspects of the company, including operations, sales and marketing, design and development, business development and finance. I led the company through its acquisition by Hyatt Hotels in December 2018.
