Notably in 2013, as lead the brand strategist, I led market research, analytics, and market research team to identify solutions that helped slow the decline in sales, after an 18-month decline, and preparing brand for renewed growth in NVAF (Non-valvular atrial fibrillation). In 2014, I led the launch for the DVT/PE treatment indications and am currently leading strategy and launch planning for the Pradaxa reversal agent. From 2012 to Present (3 years) Director Pradaxa Marketing: Access and Science @ In 2011, I was appointed to lead the Payer Access And Science functions of the Pradaxa brand team. I had accountability for managing a multimillion-dollar budget and 5-member group. As well, I drove payer strategy, execution, competitive response and life cycle planning for the Pradaxa team.
During this time, I quickly secured over 60% preferred patient co-pays and over 95% hospital formulary access for newly launched Pradaxa, critical to exceeding revenue goals in 2011 and achieving US sales of over $1B the second full year of launch. From 2011 to 2012 (1 year) Associate Director – Pradaxa Marketing @ In this role, I led development of the economic value proposition; reimbursement and managed and acute care access strategy for or Pradaxa (BI’s highest profile pre-launch candidate); and development of BI's anticoagulation care quality platform. Additionally, I assumed strategic leadership of the disease awareness platform Medical Affairs team liaison.
Successes included leading cross-functional teams to drive go-to-market payer launch preparedness for Pradaxa, laying the foundation for rapid adoption; and increased brand awareness among cardiologists and patients. In addition to this, I strengthened BI’s quality and performance measurement objectives, enhancing relationships with influential professional societies and quality organizations. From 2008 to 2010 (2 years) Associate Director – Pipeline Marketing @ In this post, I played a key role on the pipeline team and was challenged to take on multiple US/global responsibilities across numerous therapeutic areas. As well, I shaped development portfolio decisions by equipping early-stage assets in Immunology and Cardiology with commercially informed criteria for clinical stage progression. I also led the initial US target positioning, academic expert relationship development, and key pre-launch global commercial activities for Pradaxa.
Highlights included building commercial platform for Pradaxa, which led to one of the top pharma launches in past 5 years, while the championing early development and licensing goals for the Immunology and Cardiovascular franchise. From 2003 to 2007 (4 years) Associate Director Commercial Development @ In 2001, I joined a newly formed commercial development team to expand limited understanding of target markets and commercial opportunities/processes, and thus provide insight for strategic development and licensing decisions.
Achievements included building a commercial development organization for biotech start-up, in conjunction with 2 fellow team members.
