Tien Nguyen's current working experience at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory is as a Chief Engineer. At NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Tien Nguyen leads design and development of cutting-edge spacecraft and systems, including the Dawn spacecraft, which is the inside scoop of NASA’s manned space mission program. Tien Nguyen has also worked on the Mars Science Laboratory mission, which is the first mission to land on Mars.Prior to his current position at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Tien Nguyen worked as a Research Engineer at Korean Aerospace Industries Ltd. He there developed aircraft designs and tests for both traditional agricultural air travel and spaceflight applications. His research was focused on investigating the effects of extreme altitude on aircraft performance.A native of Vietnam, Tien Nguyen has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.S. in Aeronautics from the University of Southern California. Tien Nguyen is married to his wife and they have two children.
