Lawson started her marketing career at 3M in 1984. In the early 1990s, she moved to Intel and became their first rewards marketing specialist. From there, she moved to BCG, where she was executive VP and CMO from 2003-09, before taking over as President of NEXT in early 2010. At NEXT, Lawson was responsible for all marketingfunctions including direct-response marketing, online advertising, e-commerce, major product development, and consumer insights. She led the company through an acquisitions spree, including THINMI, Quora, Pond, and Sparkit, before retiring in late 2012.Since retiring, Lawson has been a full-time consultant, working with both public and private companies. Two of her most notable projects have been working on both digital marketing and content management. In early 2013, she led a review of global video marketing strategies, which published its findings in a report entitled "Strategy for Forward-Thinking Marketing." This report helpedpopularize the use of video marketing within multinational businesses. Just a few months later, she produced a white paper on digital planning, which made extensive recommendations for project planning and management. Lawson is also a big fan of marketing strategy books. She owns two of them, "Marketing Strategy: A Player's Guide to Victory" and "From Research to Action: The Complete Guide to Marketing Strategy"). She also enjoys reading marketing mystery stories.
