Tero Valtonen's education has been inento both in Maritime Studies and Economics. jets his studies at Kouvolan Lyseon Lukio in 1987 and1990, where he earned a degree in General Studies. After leaving Kouvolan, he studied Shipping Law at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki from January 1994 to January 1994, where he attained a Post Graduate Maritime Studies degree. Finally, he completed his education at University of Wales, Cardiff in January 1993, where he earned a degree in Navigation and Marine Services.

He has held various senior technical management positions in maritime companies, most recently as project manager at Railgate Finland Kouvola, Xian, and PEREZ TORRES MARITIMA S.L.Tero Valtonen has experience in various aspects of project management, including sales and marketing, operations, engineering, change management, project planning, customer service, and contract negotiations. He has held a position as a chartering, shipping, and forwarder/porter manager at Intermarine, LLC, and as a sales and marketing manager at SEQUANA MARITIME LIMITED. In his free time, Valtonen enjoys sailing, trading, and playing chess.
