Senior Software Engineer @ • Continue working on Streem technology at Box From July 2014 to Present (1 year 6 months) Co-Founder and CTO @ Acquired by Box in June 2014 • Developed a native filesystem driver to intercept filesystem calls and stream the data bits directly from Streem’s servers to the OS, allowing for native file access (i.e. video files open in native player). Implemented intelligent caching and buffering algorithms to play large media files instantly while future data is buffered in the background. • Built an on-demand adaptive bitrate video transcoding system, horizontally scalable across multiple servers and backwards compatible with the HLS protocol. • Reverse engineered the native Mac Finder binary to inject icon badges, context menu items, and sidebar buttons/icons into the running Finder process. • Developed native client apps for Web, iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, Linux, and Chrome. • Architected a horizontally scalable messaging server to coordinate and distribute events to all clients in real-time. • Architected a distributed background worker system to obtain file metadata, generate thumbnails, and process files through our de-duplication algorithm. • Built system on top of the Amazon cloud architecture using S3, EC2, ELB, CloudWatch, and Beanstalk. • Participated in Y Combinator’s summer 2012 class, and raised $875,000 in seed funding from VC firms and angel investors.
