From March 2014 to June 2014 (4 months) HR Manager @ Westcon Group is a global value-added distributor of category-leading unified communications, network infrastructure, data centre and security solutions with a worldwide network of specialty resellers. I managed the HR function for the UK business reporting to the EMEA HR Director. • Responsible for developing; advising on and implementing policies relating to the effective use of personnel within the UK/European workforce, on issues such as working conditions; performance management, equal opportunities, disciplinary procedures and absence management. • Working closely with departments, assisting line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures. • Promoting equality and diversity as part of the culture of the organisation. • Recruiting staff - developing job descriptions and person specifications, preparing job adverts, checking application forms, shortlisting, interviewing and selecting candidates. • Redeveloped & reissued staff handbook in eBook format for easy access & reference across various technology platforms. • Advising lead on EMEA wide pay and other remuneration issues, including promotion and benefits and undertaking annual salary reviews. • Negotiating with staff on issues relating to pay and conditions. • Interpreting and advising on employment law. • Dealing with grievances and implementing disciplinary procedures. • Developing with line managers HR planning strategies which consider immediate and long-term staff requirements. • Planning and delivering training, including inductions for new and existing staff. From April 2012 to March 2014 (2 years) Senior HR Advisor @ Sussex Community NHS Trust needed to undergo substantial organisational, structural & service specific changes in response to national commissioning lead requirements. I was brought in to work in a small HR team supporting Adult Services across the trust. • Provided a comprehensive day-to-day Human Resources service, covering the full range of Human Resource related issues, to meet the needs of the Trust and staff. • Provision of workforce information to Managers • Dealt with a range of employee relations queries in accordance with the Trust’s HR policies and terms and conditions of employment for staff; using initiative to deal with queries within Trust policies and procedures, such issues were often sensitive or contentious and required tact and/or persuasive skills in order to gain the co-operation of Line Managers to reach a resolution. • Supported and coached managers in employee relations matters which including recruitment, disciplinary matters, attendance & long-term absence management and team restructuring. From April 2011 to April 2012 (1 year 1 month) Human Resources Manager @ Rejuvenated the HR function on site: improving employee communications, recruitment & retention. Streamlined the recruitment process resulting in cost savings of over £780k per annum. Produced a comprehensive induction plan. Introduced ‘entry’ interviews. Project managed a site wide consultation process consolidating terms & conditions of employment resulting in cost savings of over £300k per annum. Successfully recruited 65 nursing staff in six months. Developed clearer timesheets and altered site policy to ensure fairness and transparency. From August 2009 to March 2011 (1 year 8 months) Personnel Officer @ A mid-price American cruise line with 16 vessels providing cruise holidays to all seven continents. The ships range from 600 to 3,500 passenger capacity operating with between 300 and 1800 crew members respectively. • Performing a personnel/Human Resources function for 1800 crew members on-board, ensured Fleet Personnel Policies & Procedures were adhered to. • Organized and managed Full Crew Department of Homeland Security US Customs and Border Protection Inspections. • Prepared all crew immigration and customs documentation and ensured that the appropriate port officials received the required documents. • Ensured full compliance with ships safety & Maritime Coastguard Association certification requirements. • Provided guidance and counselling, as required. • Ran & administered induction program for new recruits. • Managed teams of between 5-20 staff in Pursers department.
