Suzanne Murphy is a Senior Marketer and Investor Relations Executive who has been very successful raising capital for a diverse range of alternative investment products. She has led Business Development teams for both Private Equity and Hedge Funds and has been a results focused leader with over 20 years of experience. In her past roles, she has raised over $6 Billion, often shifting capital from Fund of Funds to highly diversified Institutional Investors. Her skills driving complex negotiations has been a hallmark of her success.
In addition to raising capital, Suzanne spent part of her career allocating capital to hedge funds, giving her a unique perspective among marketing professionals.
She is also a highly polished executive level presenter, possessing advanced verbal communication and interpersonal engagement capabilities. She has spoken at numerous conferences globally and appeared frequently on business television channels including CNBC, FOX Business and Bloomberg News.

The core of the strategy is to buy senior debt below par with relatively near term catalysts. While the mandate is global, today our primary focus is on Europe given the opportunity set we are seeing. From July 2013 to Present (2 years 4 months) Greater New York City AreaGlobal Head of Marketing and Investor Relations @ Hired after a 6 month national search conducted by Spencer Stuart. Brought in to run team of 13 people. Understanding was that position was to be based in NY. Shortly came to the mutual conclusion with management that position couldn't be effective unless based in Los Angeles. Not in a position to move. From October 2011 to February 2012 (5 months) Greater Los Angeles AreaHead of Strategic Development @ Spearheaded marketing and investor relations effort. Raised over $4 billion and shifted investor base from being predominantly Fund of Funds to a more diverse, mostly institutional, clientele. Capital sourced globally. Developed and maintained marketing material, including presentations, due diligence questionnaires and operations manual. Firm sold a majority interest to The Carlyle Group, December 2010. Firm raised an additional $1.5 billion in the 5 months after resignation, pointing to robust pipeline. Maintained presence as a frequent speaker at industry conferences and on business television globally. From April 2009 to August 2011 (2 years 5 months) New YorkManaging Director Fund Services @ Partnered with existing New York Merchant bank to create a capital raising arm under their umbrella. Selectively raised capital for managers, performed outsourced due diligence and performance coaching. Maintained a consulting relationship with Acorn Partners and remained on the investment committee through December of 2009. From August 2008 to April 2009 (9 months) Greater New York City AreaManaging Director, Member of the Investment Committee @ Joined to build a Fund of Funds business out of what had been a family office. Responsible for approximately 30% of the investments in the Fund of Funds portfolio and substantially all outside capital raised since joining. In February 2004, firm launched a quantitative long short equity fund which was opened to outside investors in October of 2004. Raised substantially all the outside capital from inception (approximately $700 million). Diverse investor base of high net worth, pensions and fund of funds. Managed all client correspondence for the different products as well as investor relations function. Spoke at and attended industry conferences worldwide. Keynote speaker at both Hedge Funds World Asia and Hedge Funds World Australia, co-host Squawk Box Asia. From August 2003 to July 2008 (5 years) New YorkManaging Director of Alternative Investments @ Developed and built the CEUT brand in the alternative investment market. Took flagship product, UT Technology Partners, from approximately $200 million under management to $550 million at the peak. Developed concept for long/short fund in partnership with Standard and Poors, launched February 2003. Involved in all aspects of starting that fund from documentation to launch. Oversaw in-house administration group as well as served on the firm’s internal risk management committee. Assisted in choice of strategic partner for fund of funds launched January 2003. Interviewed managers for possible strategic partnerships, as well as inclusion in the fund of funds. Responsible for all investor relations for the hedge funds, developed password protected area of firm website for Alternative Investment Department, wrote monthly correspondence for managers.
