I am passionate about maximizing human potential, specifically within a holistic health and wellness framework. I easily build rapport and relationships with a diverse group of people - a natural gift honed with master's level training. I am an excellent communicator and educator - both verbally and with the written word. I have the ability to see the big picture and the small details that comprise that picture. I am a quick-learner, motivated, and flexible, adeptly responding to change. I am organized and thorough - you can count on me to get the job done effectively and on time.
Wellness Service Associate @ From June 2015 to Present (7 months) Quality Improvement Supervisor @ Working within the complicated and complex environment of managed care regulations, my responsibilities were widely varied. I wore many hats - to name a few: Training and Development Specialist, Process Improvement Guru, Stakeholder Relations Manager, Auditor, Newsletter Author, and Problem-Solver. My goal in taking this position was to improve the systems and processes used in mental health delivery. Below is a sampling of feedback I received on my performance:
"I am so grateful to have started at FPS with you as my New Hire Trainer! I can't imagine what I would have done without your guidance and your new hire training binder is one of my 'must haves' in my in-the-field bag!" Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) team member
"Your are the follow through goddess!! What you are doing for the infrastructure of this agency in large and small ways is irreplaceable." School-Based Mental Health Therapist
"This (newsletter) is BEAUTIFUL! I am blown away by the content, presentation, everything! You guys did more than a great job - this is just over-the-top amazing." State-level Director
"The way you do things is a breath of fresh air." Clinical Supervisor From October 2013 to August 2014 (11 months) School-based Mental Health Therapist @ The children and families I worked with were typically low-income and minorities - marginalized and highly dependent on government resources. Chronic stress and trauma pock-marked the lives of even my youngest clients. Traditional talk therapy was not effective. It wasn't until I harnessed and incorporated the newest research on the neurobiological impact of chronic stress and trauma that I felt I was able to make even the slightest difference for my clients.
My research and training in the arena of chronic stress is applicable both within a public mental health setting and within a high performing corporate culture. Our brains are independent of socioeconomic status and education level - the neurological response to stress is common across the human experience. These cutting-edge developments in understanding neurological functioning will change how we view and respond to workplace stress. From August 2012 to October 2013 (1 year 3 months) Asheville, North Carolina AreaMental Health Counselor (Graduate Intern) @ I provided mental health counseling to children, adolescents, and adults to address emotional, cognitive, and behavioral impairments. From August 2011 to May 2012 (10 months) Charlotte, North Carolina AreaGraduate Assistant @ I was a Graduate Assistant in the University Center for Academic Excellence (UCAE) during the clinical portion of my graduate work. I served as a supervisor to 10 undergraduate peer mentors. In this role, I was able to exercise my interest in wellness focusing on creating short educational segments on topics such as mindfulness, stress management, and time management. I was selected to serve on the hiring committee for a high-level UCAE position during my tenure. I also did marketing outreach to incoming freshman and current students, representing the UCAE at summer orientation and in classroom presentations. From December 2010 to May 2012 (1 year 6 months) Charlotte, North Carolina AreaCareer Counselor (Graduate Intern) @ I provided career counseling, interview preparation, and resume critiques for adult students. I delivered classroom presentations on interviewing and the Myer's Briggs Personality Type Indicator (MBTI). From January 2011 to May 2011 (5 months) Charlotte, North Carolina AreaGeneral Manager @ Charlotte Athletic Club is a high-end health club in Charlotte's center city with membership consisting of high-ranking professionals (Barack Obama worked out at the club during one of his campaign tours). I planned, directed and coordinated all daily operations. Key accomplishments include: responsibility for P&L (11% YoY increase in revenue in 2010), building and maintaining all HR functions (recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, writing job descriptions, and managing to performance), and nearly doubling member satisfaction. From August 2009 to December 2010 (1 year 5 months) Operations Manager @ It was at this time that I decided to pursue my passion for health and wellness as a career, specifically focusing on the connection between the mind and the body. While obtaining my master's degree in mental health, I focused my work experience on physical health. I took on the role of Operations Manager and became certified as a yoga instructor through the Yoga Alliance.
When I came on board, Charlotte Athletic Club was undergoing an ownership change, which included a multi-million dollar renovation, complete rebranding, and an increase in membership dues. As the Operations Manager, I simultaneously kept daily operations flowing smoothly while also developing the processes and infrastructure to accompany the many changes taking place within the organization.
I built and managed the financial infrastructure (reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis). In the first year under my oversight, operational costs reduced 60%. I also researched and implemented a comprehensive club management IT solution, which improved member retention, tracking, and customer service, in addition to providing clear visibility to our revenue sources. I became an expert in the treatment of cardiovascular disease and corresponding disease states such as type II diabetes. I managed physician client base of 200+ primary care physicians, cardiologists, and endocrinologists - analyzing sales numbers, determining key accounts to move business, and developing team strategy, focus and messaging. In 2006, my territory sales increased 4.8% (vs. 2.8% nationally). For my efforts and results, I was awarded the Team Leadership Award that same year.
