💼 Past Experience

Sunay has a background in Computer Sc. Dept, IIT Delhi from 1991 to 1995. He was a Senior Distinguished Engineer at Sun Microsystems from December 2005 to April 2010 (4 years 5 months). Sunay led Solaris kernel/networking in technical capacity and has undertaken key initiatives for Sun related to networking and network virtualization. He drove the network and network virtualization (Containers) initiative for Sun to create new business opportunities. This required industry leading research in the form of Project Crossbow which added Network Virtualization and resource control capabilities to Solaris Core OS. Crossbow allows creation of Virtual NICs, switches and routers by partitioning the NIC and kernel resources. Sunay also allows the virtualized networking stack to scale across large numbers of CPU without any S/W overheads. The technology transformed the kernel and network virtualization industry later and became the mainstay in todays Containers based Micro-Services and Software Defined Networks. Sunay founded Pluribus Networks to leverage his background in Virtualization and Software Defined Infrastructure (SDI). Pluribus is located in Palo Alto (California) and trying to solve some hard problems in the space of Network Virtualization and Cloud fabric while providing the flexibility of Software based programmability. Rahim Yahya is the Company’s Chief Operating Officer and Ericsson leads the technology development.Sunay is currently a Research Associate at Computer Sc. Dept, IIT Delhi from 1991 to 1995 (4 years).
