Diabetes sucks. We're trying to improve the lives of millions of people with this unrelenting disease. From January 2013 to Present (3 years) CTO & Co-Founder @ Invented a new approach to enterprise WAN optimization and formulated a business concept based on applying this new technology in an enterprise IT infrastructure device, leading to the creation of a new, billion-dollar market. Provided technical leadership to company and served on Board of Directors. In May 2015, Riverbed was sold to private equity for $3.5 billion. From May 2002 to February 2013 (10 years 10 months) CTO @ Served initially as CTO of the Media Division, which was created from the acquisition of FastForward Networks. Later served as CTO of the company. From October 2000 to April 2002 (1 year 7 months) CTO & Co-Founder @ Invented the new technology of application-level multicast and formulated business concept around applying this technology to Internet and corporate streaming media. Sold company in 2000 for $1.3 billion. Provided technical leadership to company and served on Board of Directors. From July 1998 to October 2000 (2 years 4 months) Assistant Professor @ Taught graduate and undergraduate courses in Internetworking and communications protocols. Advised Master’s and PhD graduate students, culiminating in three PhD degrees and numerous Master’s degrees. Published tens of papers in international venues and top-tier conferences and journals. Served on numerous program committees and presented numerous invited talks in international venues on my research. Was a principal investigator on a number of research programs funded by NSF, DARPA, and others. From June 1996 to January 2000 (3 years 8 months) Staff Scientist @ Conducted research and developed software in the Lab's Network Research Group, which was led by Internet pioneer Van Jacobson. Developed new protocols for multimedia communication that led to the creation (with others) of today's VoIP specification. Created the world's very first implementation of the modern VoIP protocol and presented experiential findings to the IETF in 1994. Developed widely used open-source software including tcpdump, the Mbone tools (vic, vat, and wb), the BSD packet filter, libpcap, the pcap file format, and the NS network simulator. From June 1988 to January 1996 (7 years 8 months)
