💼 Past Experience

Since he joined Adventist Health in 2010 as a Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO), Margolis has overseen the implementation of Cerner's Eastern Healthcare Region (EHR) – a $100 million project rollout that has resulted in the enrollment of 2,700 patients in 20 Adventist Health hospitals and 260 clinics, the design and launch of Cerner Population Health Registries, the successful rollout of dragon dictation for physicians, the successful rollout of Meaningful Use, and the successful ongoing efforts to improve adoption across clinics. Margolis has also played a leadership role in establishing an environment in which physician leadership elected to achieve corporate wide CPE. He is also responsible for developing a codification strategy to meet the needs of simultaneous 7 Adventist Health hospitals and 11,500+ physicians, developing standards for order sets, and sector-wide management of patient data. Inauguration ceremonies honoring Margolis' accomplishments were held in Roseville, CA in 2010 and in Chicago, IL in 2004. Margolis is also responsible for the development and implementation of Business Intelligence capabilities, the creation of an environment in which physician leadership elected to achieve corporate wide CPE, and the implementation of SIS in the OR. In 2015, he was rewarded with the prestigious Roberto Leone Award for excellence in health information technology.

Steve Margolis has a background in Black Belt Lean Six Sigma from certification with to MSG. He then attended an MD program at the University of Cape Town where he earned his degree in medicine in 2013. He then spent a fellowship in surgery, Otology and Laryngology from the University of Cape Town from 2013 to 2015. Steve Margolis then completed his MBA program at Stellenbosch University in South Africa in 2016. Steve Margolis is currently working as an information systems administrator with a healthcare hospital in South Africa.
