CTO \ IT Director @ I lead an IT Infrastructure Team and a Development Team, and am responsible for the full range of IT Services (Networking\Servers\Telephony\Security\Cloud) within FirstCare. I am responsible for the IT infrastructure that supports 200 users across 5 sites in three countries, including desktops, laptops, servers,printers, backup, security, compliance and mobile devices. I am responsible for managing a budget of £500K.
As well as the day-to-day tasks of managing IT for CheckFree\Fiserv I lead the non US part of any acquisition and integration work as new companies are added to the group portfolio. I manage the business units IT Business Continuity Plans, and customer’s security questions and audit. Since the acquisition of CheckFree by Fiserv in August 2007 this role has changed to support 80 additional users and sites in Holland and UK.
2009 Key Achievements: I designed and implemented a secure virtual desktop environment for 30 off shore developers to use, complying with stringent security and minimising potential loss of intellectual property.
2008 Key Achievements - I led a team to introduce virtualisation into our core data centers in order to increase reliability and reduce power and space requirements. Also I ran a £26K project to replace the access control security system at the Wokingham site with an enterprise wide system integrated with the rest of the group.
2007 Key Achievements - I led the UK and Australia portions of the acquisition of Carreker, merging the Australia office of ten users with an existing office and bringing an additional London office of 40 users onto the CheckFree Network, including migration to the CheckFree domain, server management systems, and adoption of the CheckFree ERP(SAP) system for, HR, procurement, finance, accounting, and expences. From March 2007 to June 2011 (4 years 4 months) IT Director @ International Role leading a team who are responsible for all IT and Telecom in the European and Asia PAC area. With particular emphasis on support for software test and devleopment teams. From March 2007 to October 2008 (1 year 8 months) IT Manager @ After acquisition of Accurate by CheckFree I became responsible for all IT in Europe for CheckFree. This included 2 offices in UK in addition to the Accurate Software offices across Europe and in Sydney.
2006 Key Achievements – I designed and project managed a new data centre for in London for 50 servers, replacing two older centres. I specified the cooling, power, networking, physical security and space requirements, working with building contractors, landlords and business stakeholders to ensure a successful project.
2005 Key Achievements Included - the successful integration of the Accurate Sites into CheckFree IT infrastructure. This included migration of all computers to the CheckFree Active Directory, migration of email to Lotus Notes, migration to the CheckFree ERP(SAP) systems for HR, Accounting, Finance, Expenses and work flow. From June 2005 to March 2007 (1 year 10 months) Technical Services Manager @ I managed and grew the internal IT systems to support the software development business. I also used my product and finance knowledge in product technical pre-sales – specifying hardware for the larger reconciliation solutions as well as continuing to provide product leadership, and technical leadership for product design and complex reconciliations.
During this time I project managed the office move to our 3rd office, implemented a VPN solution linking our 5 sites, 4 of which were overseas. I set up an SSL VPN for remote access from non-company PCs to email, and designed our Active Directory Schema, and deployed Citrix to support the remote sites. From May 2000 to May 2005 (5 years 1 month) Support Manager @ I led the customer facing team of four Technical Consultants that were on site and 4 internal product support staff. We used a Rapid Application Development methodologies for our on-site customizations to more accurately capture requirements and quickly deliver solutions.
Also I gathered and prioritized enhancement requests, working with the Development manager to prioritize enhancements, and co-ordinate new releases.
Significant achievement: our first US based solution at Sonnet Financial in San Francisco. From January 1998 to January 2000 (2 years 1 month) Development Manager @ I managed a team of 4 C++ developers that built the first client-server product for Accurate Software, this product then went on to become Accurate NXG, the flagship reconciliation software solution for Accurate Software and latterly CheckFree and Fiserv. This solution has to date been sold to over 200 companies worldwide. I was responsible for the initial architecture and design, as well as all installations during this phase of Accurate's growth. From January 1997 to December 1998 (2 years) Technical Consultant @ Installing and delivering training on 3rd party software products on customers’ sites. Products used were CaLANdar a network group scheduling tool, Software Sentry a security and license management tool. Key achievements working with Nuclear Electric to roll out CaLANdar to all their sites across the UK, and installing Accurate Software’s first internet email gateway.
